Position Summary:Provide a brief deion of position’s reason to exist
?Work as Technical Lead on Installations and Upgrades on a wide range of Varian OIS Products according to customers technical / systems environment and company procedures to ensure that customers equipment operates efficiently. Requires a minimum of supervision.
Major responsibilities:List position’s major accountabilities
?Install / Upgrade OIS products for complex VMS equipment, according to company procedures and customers technical and systems environment, in order to ensure that all Varian OIS Products function properly
?Instruct and support customers in systems maintenance and in basic operation of OIS Products, to ensure customers/users are self-sufficient in operating their equipment
?Coordinate Systems installations and upgrades in close cooperation with the Software Project Management Team and Local Service Team in order to ensure that system implementation functions meet the customer needs
?Conduct the Acceptance Conditions testing, to ensure that all installation conditions will be met according to schedule and that customers can sign the Acceptance Letters to ensure customers OIS Systems are installed/upgraded with minimum downtime, certain tasks may be required to be performed outside normal local working hours
?Input detailed records of installation/upgrade visits into company information systems, including IT and technical problems, s taken and parts employed to correct these problems, to ensure accurate updated customer maintenance information is available to other VMS parties
?Maintain up-to-date technical documentation, in order to permanently keep informed regarding all operating characteristics, design factors, technical and systems performance and developments of VMS products
Major responsibilities: (cont.)
?Report by means of FSRs / time sheets / expense reports etc. (as applicable) regularly / weekly to ensure accurate company statistical data on customer-oriented activities are available / kept up to date
?Train and advise less experienced technical Support Engineers OIS in technical matters, during installation / Upgrade work, to ensure they can provide appropriate customer service and maintain up-to-date technical expertise
?Develop and maintain a high degree of professional knowledge and safety consciousness amongst Installation and Upgrade, according to VMS guidelines, to ensure they perform their activities under the safest working conditions
?Communicate actively with the Varian OIS Product Management & Product Marketing and participate in getting new products to the field in order to ensure that products meet the customer needs
?Perform other duties as assigned
Education / Experience:Educational requirements and number of years related experience
acquired before or with Varian Medical Systems (VMS)
Educational requirements:Graduate of Technical Institute or University in Computer
Science / Computer engineering or related fields or equivalent education
Number of years related experience:1 - 3 years previous experience in IT service & support
preferable but not a condition
Number of years Varian experience:Previous experience as a Support Engineer OIS A/B preferred
Knowledge:Things incumbent needs TO KNOW to successfully perform on the job
Information Technology:Practical knowledge in computer architecture (Intel based). Profound
knowledge of WINDOWS based operating system and Active Directory required. Understanding of Relational Database Management Systems and SQL Experiences on VMWare, Citrix XenApps Servers 7.x, knowledge in Juniper firewall configuration and deployment.
Customers:Sound understanding of customers and their requirements Business Procedures:Sound understanding and application of VMS business procedures
Technical expertise:Sound knowledge of processes and methods used in VMS product
areas such as product specification, product developments / expansions and product security and safety.
Sound professional experience of electronic engineering, testing equipment used for verification, checkout and calibration of VMS products
Health & Safety:Constant training to gain and maintain a sound knowledge and
systematically apply national laws and VMS regulations on health & safety in the workplace environment, particularly concerning radiation and electrical safety
Knowledge: (cont.)
Human Resources:Understanding and experience of processes and systems to manage,
motivate and develop individuals
Skills:Things incumbent must be able TO DO to perform successfully on the job
Perfect fluency in the local language and in English, both written and spoken and preferably in more European foreign languages is desirable
Must be mature and tactful
Articulate and skilled in interpersonal communications Willing to travel extensively
Willing to work normal and non-normal hours as required to support the customers Excellent skills in applying VMS health & safety regulations to job holder’s work environment
