PERSON & POST SPECIFICATION (Science Technician)Role:Science TechnicianSchool:Senior SchoolHours:Full timeContract:As applicableClassification:Local SupportResponsible to:Head of Senior School, lined managed by Head of SciencePOST-HOLDER QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE.?2-3 years related working experiences in an international school environment.?College degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred, science **** preferred.?Teaching experience or relevant work in a laboratory?Ability to build relationships with other team members?Good computer skills-including word-processing, spreadsheet, email and internet ?Excellent verbal skills in English ?Good practical skills in Science?Good attitude to work, sense of initiative and strong responsibility, trustworthy?Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyPOST-HOLDER SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES.?Assisting and demonstrating in practical classes.?Setting up, trialing and assisting with data logging.?Preparing resources, making up solutions, assembling apparatus, delivering equipment to labs.?Safe disposal of chemical and biological waste according to local regulations and guidelines.?Checking practical equipment.?Checking conditions of chemicals.?Support school cleaning staff in safe cleaning of science laboratories and preproom.?Monitor access to science laboratories and prep room.?Clearing away from laboratories to storage areas, cleaning and checking of practical equipment ?Give technical advice to teachers, technicians and students.?Supervision of students carrying out individual investigations.?Trialing new practical activities.?Constructing and modifying apparatus?Keep up to date with current CLEAPPS health and safety information?Carry out risk assessment of practicals requested by teachers. ?Carry out risk assessment for technician activities.?Provide advice on safe practice when unsafe practice is observed or anticipated.?Help stocktaking chemicals, equipment and stationary.?Cleaning laboratory sinks to remove hazardous substances or recyclable materials.?Checking and repairing textbooks.?Help in the checking of deliveries including stationary?Help to organize and come on Science faculty trips.?Liaise with and offer support to Junior School and DUCKS.?Assist in the management of the issue and collection of textbooks. ?Research possibilities for local purchases.?Keeping prep room tidy.?Ability to build relationships with other team members?Good computer skills-including word-processing, spreadsheet, email and internet ?Excellent verbal skills in English ?Good practical skills in Science?Good attitude to work, sense of initiative and strong responsibility, trustworthy?Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyAt Dulwich College International, students come first.
